Upper Brazil - Nova Uniao

Nova Uniao was created by Andre Pederneiras and Wendell Alexander in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The team was known for its Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and athletes such as Robson Moura, Vitor ‘Shaolin’ Ribeiro, Bruno Bastos, Gustavo Dantas, Feijão, João Roque, Rafael Carino and many more.

In the last years, Nova Uniao – that meanings ”New Union” – has been accumulating titles also in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Some of the talent includes former UFC Champion BJ Penn, current UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and other notable fighters like Renan Barao, Ronny Markes, Luis Beicao (UFC), Marlon Sandro, Eduardo Dantas and Marcos ‘Loro’ Galvão (Bellator).

Hundreds of athletes have trained under the command of Andre Pederneiras, one of the most recognized coaches in the sport. Today, Nova Uniao has maintained a high ranking in the competitions and in 2011, the team had an 80% winning average.
